While we’re working on exploring our pop culture blind spots, we’re learning a lot. A few weeks ago, we learned that Crossroads was about a surprisingly bleak Britney Spears road trip. And this week, Traci watched Dirty Dancing for the first time and learned that it’s set in the ’60s. Which wouldn’t be surprising, except that everyone has ’80s hair and they dance to a super-80s pop song.
I’d say that we also learned that Kelly Bishop is a total fox, but let’s be real. We’ve always known that.
- Molly, on the other hand, was briefly obsessed with Dirty Dancing as a kid, but was surprised on rewatch by how much abortion there was, especially when in 2014 there was still controversy about advertising a movie like Obvious Child on network TV.
